Today Year 4 moved onto their new text type in literacy, letters! The effort the children showed in understanding and studying the features of a letter was first class (pun absolutely intended). We started by discussing what we already knew about letters and how they were set out. Then we had a look at a lot of example letters from Vikings writing home to Scandinavia! The children delivered (there I go again) royal standard work, highlighting and discussing the layout of a letter.
We then had a practice at writing the introduction of a letter, and the children came up with some very creative ideas! It was so great to see the children getting familiar with the format and style of letter writing, and they all looked ready to go for their slow write tomorrow
Then, after that we moved onto our warm feedback to generate ideas. We found that the WAGOLL showed us good paragraphs, solid conjunctions and a range of excellent vocabulary. We also saw that layout was done in a very creative way.
Keep up the great work Year 4.
